Identify the machine
Request a clear identification plate photo and confirm which unit appears in each image or video. Ask when the media was recorded. Keep a written list of the information received and the items that remain unclear.
Request complete coverage
Ask to see the exterior, cab, controls, engine area, hydraulic lines, tracks and undercarriage. Request both overall views and close-ups. Ask the seller to explain visible damage, repairs or missing components instead of inferring condition from a single photograph.
Ask for operating footage
Discuss a walk-around and a demonstration of the machine operating. Ask what can be shown safely at the yard. Video adds useful context but does not replace a hands-on assessment by a qualified inspector when one is needed.
Resolve open questions
Before committing, confirm known issues, available records and the inspection arrangement. Put agreed findings and included items in writing. If the evidence is incomplete, request additional information rather than assuming the machine meets your requirements.
